The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has opened a two-day stakeholders workshop aimed at updating Ghana’s Comprehensive Foreign Policy to better reflect today’s fast-changing global environment.
The forum brings together diplomats, government officials, civil society groups, and academic experts to examine key areas such as geopolitical shifts, economic diplomacy, security partnerships, diaspora relations, and the growing influence of technology on global affairs.
Acting Chief Director, Ambassador Khadija Iddrisu, highlighted the need to tap into diverse expertise to strengthen Ghana’s diplomatic outlook. She noted that the country’s foreign policy remains anchored in Pan-Africanism, non-alignment, peaceful coexistence, and multilateral cooperation.
Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister James Gyakye Quayson emphasized the urgency of crafting a unified, future-oriented foreign policy that protects Ghana’s sovereignty, expands economic opportunities, and upholds the nation’s reputation as a stable and principled international actor.
The initiative is part of a broader push by the Ministry to ensure Ghana’s foreign policy remains coherent, responsive, and aligned with national development goals.
