The raging battle over the Apinto mine has exploded into a war of words and threats.
National Democratic Congress (NDC) strongman, Ebenezer Amemagakpor, alias Commander or Aboyanga, has accused senior National Security officer Col. Talleh of taking bribes to influence the illegal takeover of RMG Mining’s licensed concession at Prestea-Huni Valley.
In a fiery radio outburst, Aboyanga declared: “If Col. Talleh tries it a fifth time, I’ll go to Accra and sue him — because he took money from me. If they keep this up, National Security will never know peace.”
Col. Talleh fumes: “I would Arrest him”
But Col. Talleh, in a phone conversation and follow-up text to the New Crusading GUIDE, strongly denied the allegations and vowed to have Aboyanga arrested.

“I have never met the man. I don’t know him or his associates. I even sent a team to Tarkwa to get him to substantiate his claims, but he had left the area. I hope to meet him so he can remind me where he gave me the bribe,” he told this paper.
The Colonel added that he had also contacted TV XYZ, where Aboyanga made his allegations, but believes the activist was “tipped off to run away” to avoid being confronted.
He acknowledged being aware of the Apinto Mines dispute, which he said has been ongoing since October 2024, and confirmed he has engaged RMG’s lawyers. However, he stressed that he has “never taken money from anyone” in connection with the mine.
The Apinto saga began when National Security operatives, acting on false intelligence, stormed RMG’s concession in March 2025 and handed it over to a group of illegal miners loyal to the NDC, backed by Chinese nationals and armed thugs.

A High Court injunction and subsequent National Security directive for RMG to retake the site have been openly defied, with the mine remaining under political and armed control.
With Aboyanga publicly threatening that National Security “would never know peace,” and Col. Talleh daring him to surface and substantiate his claims, the Apinto mine scandal has escalated into a showdown of threats, denials, and high-level impunity.
