The Volta Regional Council of State Member, Gabriel Tanko Kwamigah-Atokple, has said that Ghana is not asking the world for charity. Rather, he said, Ghana is inviting the world to do business.
He says the facts speak for themselves that Ghana is one of the largest economies in Africa, Africa’s leading gold producer, and among the top six gold-producing countries in the world.
Together with Côte d’Ivoire, he said the two west african countries are the world’s leading cocoa producer, while hosting the Secretariat of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), giving investors access to a market of more than 1.4 billion people.
“These accomplishments are only the beginning. Even greater opportunities await investors in value addition, industrialisation, agribusiness, logistics, tourism, technology, and manufacturing,” he said when he addressed the 5th Annual Business Exchange Forum-Invest in Ghana Dialogue in Chicago, USA on Saturday June 27.
He shared the platform with Mr. Simon Madjie, Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), Rep. Sonya Harper of the Illinois State Legislature, and other business leaders, alongside business leaders, investors, and members of the African Diaspora to present Ghana’s compelling investment story.
Kwamigah-Atokple also highlighted what he believes is one of Ghana’s best-kept investment destination, the Volta Region.
“The region is blessed with fertile agricultural land, abundant water resources, breathtaking natural attractions, and a peaceful and trustworthy people, and presents exceptional opportunities in commercial agriculture, agro-processing, tourism, fisheries, manufacturing, and hospitality. With the government advancing plans for a modern port and harbour facility, the Volta Region is poised to become an important gateway for trade and investment in Ghana and across West Africa,” he said.
He stressed, “Ghana is open for business. Ghana is ready for public-private partnerships. The Volta Region is ready for investment.”
