Kingmakers Strip Nii Lamptey Naked!
PRINCIPAL kingmakers, accredited heads and elders of Gomoa Fetteh Divisional Area, under the Gomoa Akyempim Traditional Council in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region, have denied knowing one Nii Lamptey claiming to be the Chief of Gomoa Fetteh after he was purportedly snubbed by some appointees of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
They stressed that there was a substantive Chief in the person of Nana Abore Yamoah II with the powers of the kingmakers, elders, Central Regional House of Chiefs and members of the Akyempim Traditional Council to perform the functions and duties of Gomoa Fetteh Divisional Stool.
According to the elders, Nana Abore Yamoah II is the only recognised and traditionally installed Chief of Gomoa Fetteh Divisional Area, stressing that per the Chieftaincy Act of the Constitution of the Republic of Ghana no one could be installed a chief if the substantive chief is alive and kicking.
They pointed out that attention of the principal kingmakers, accredited heads and elders of Gomoa Fetteh Divisional Stool has been drawn to a news item purported to be pinned to the Chronicle newspaper with a heading: “Reshuffle Kasoa Police, Gomoa Fetteh Chief.”
The said front page story which had the picture of Nii Lamptey purportedly addressed himself as the Chief of Gomoa Fetteh Divisional Area under the stool name, Nana Abore Yamoah II, sought to put out a lot of false information about Gomoa Fetteh community.
“We, the Accredited Elders and Principal Members of the Gomoa Fetteh Stool emphatically repeat that we have not installed anyone by name Nii Lamptey to any royal position let alone put out any information regarding that.
“We emphasis the following:-The purported Nii Lamptey is not a royal from any of the ruling Royal Gates of Gomoa Fetteh Stool from which candidates can be nominated to ascend onto the Gomoa Fetteh Divisional Stool. Nii Lartey does not hail maternally or paternally from any of the royal gates in the area and, therefore, does not have any royal blood in him. That is the basic qualifier to be considered for any position,” they declared.
Speaking in an interview with some senior journalists at Gomoa Fetteh yesterday, the Secretary to the Divisional Chief of Gomoa Fetteh, Mr Eric Agyiri Duodu, stated that Nii Lamptey is not the Gomoa Fetteh Chief as reported by sections of the media September 3, 2019.
Mr Duodu described Nii Lamptey as a confutionist, saying that there was judgement from the Supreme Court which declared Nana Yamoah II as the substantive Chief of Gomoa Fetteh Stool.
He explained that the Supreme Court presided over by Justice Atubuga on June 27, 2017 quashed the application orders of Peter Dei Ofei, challenging the chieftaincy legitimacy of Nana Yamoah II.
The Supreme Court judgement which is in possession of this paper read in part: “The order of Peter Dei Ofei J dated June 16 January, 2017 be brought up before this court to be quashed and the same is hereby quashed.”
The judgement continued that “Consequently all steps based on the order are also null and void hereby set aside.”
Mr. Duodu asserted that it was unfortunate that successful and well-meaning personalities had their names mentioned in that reported news item by the print media.
He assured all that there was no tension in Gomoa Fetteh, stressing that they just celebrated their annual Ahobaakese festival in peaceful manner.
