The elders of the Abor Twidan Family of GomoaFetteh in the Central Region are not pleased about the clandestine steps being taken by some family members of the late Nana Abor Yamoah known in private life as Edward Kwame Aquaye to have the latter buried as a royal of the people of GomoaFetteh.
According to the elders, the late chief is a usurper who cannot be buried as a chief or even as Abor twidan member per the customs of the people of GomoaFetteh.
The elders of the one of the fastest-growing areas in terms of sales of lands and infrastructure in the region led by Odikrohemaa of GomoaFetteh, Nana AmoasimahNkrabeah II, Nana Kobina Kaye and Ebusuapanyin Kofi Ahomka claimed that the said chief was not a royal from any of the ruling houses and that cannot be buried as such.
The late chief when he was alive was aware he was not a royal stemming from the numerous court cases that were hanging around his neck, of which rulings were made in favour of the family.
‘It’s only people who ascend the GomoaFetteh throne by the rightful way and a royal from any of the ruling houses who can be buried as such, they contend.
The late chief was not a royal from any of the ruling houses and cannot be buried as a royal per the customs of the people of GomoaFetteh, they added.
As elders of the stool, we do not recognize the late chief as a royal adding that he does not hail from any of the ruling houses, rather, he hails from the Asona clan of Dogo.
The late chief was a usurper who ascended the GomoaFetteh throne with the aid of several land guards who have tormented family members who are against his reign as a chief of the area.
We have taken steps to secure a court injunction to restrain the family of the late chief from burying him as a chief and a member of the Abor Twidan family.
The injunction dated October 7, 2021 secured from the Judicial Committee of the GomoaAkyimpem Traditional Council has been served by substituted service on the said family of the late chief.
Even though the bailiffs could not get them in person to have the organizers of the said funeral served, copies of the injunction have been pasted on the houses and all public places in the area.
They added that Millennium City Police has also been given a copy of the injunction as per the laws of the country.
In matter of Nana AmoasimahNkrabeah II, Odikrohemaa of GomoaFetteh and Nana Ahomka II, Head of Abor Twidan Family of GomoaFetteh versus Kofi Baah, who also styles himself as Nana Abor Atta II.
In the statement of claims before the Judicial Committee, the plaintiff said Edward Kwame Aquaye who until his demise styles himself as Nana Abor Yamoah II, the Odikro of GomoaFetteh was not a legitimate Odikro of GomoaFetteh and therefore his funeral and burial cannot be performed as if he was legitimate Odikro and also a Twidan family member of GomoaFetteh
The family is warning that they will resist any attempts by the family of the late chief to lay their so-called chief in the Abor Twidan family house not to talk of burying him in GomoaFetteh as if he is a royal.
We will not countenance any attempt to have the late chief buried as a serving royal and legitimate chief.
As elders we don’t mind whichever way the family decides to bury their loved one but we will rise and fight for birthright by ensuring that the right things are done in relation to the funeral of the illegitimate late chief.
They warned they will not sit down for their customs to be trampled upon by the family of the late in the area.
Meanwhile, the funeral of the late chief is slated for this coming Saturday October 16, 2021 at GomoaFetteh but invitees are adviced to advice themselves for their own safety sake.
