The chiefs and elders of Tema Municipality led by the Member of Parliament for the area, Titus Glover, have commissioned a state-of-the-art artificial park constructed by Wembley Sports Construction Company Limited at Tema East Constituency, in the Greater Accra Region.
The project was funded by the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA), after the chief and the MP successfully lobbied for the construction of the facility in the area.
Addressing a durbar to commission the Astro Turf park project, Hon. Titus Glover said that government is committed to sports development hence, is prepared to collaborate with the private sector to ensure the youth benefit immensely from the initiatives.
According to him, there is the need for people in East Legon and its environs to continue believing in his government because his administration would surely honour all its promises, of which sports development is a priority.
He said every single community, wherever they are, whatever they are, would benefit from the good policies of the NPP government and added that the NPP government will continue to promote and support development of the areas.
The MP also stressed that many more projects are going on in the constituency and the construction of the new football pitch will make it complete.
The Chief Executive officer of Wembley Sports Construction Company Limited, Robert Tetteh Coleman said his company, is set to construct one hundred (100) artificial football Parks this year.
He explained that Wembley is facing some challenges such as blocking of roads when people are having funerals and non-availability of playgrounds.
He, however, indicated that these problems will be over as he is in talks with chiefs, land owners and traditional leaders to help make land available for the project.
Robert Tetteh Coleman also appealed to corporate organizations and individuals, Members of Parliament, Municipal and District Assemblies to come on board for the execution of the project now christened “One Constituency, One artificial Football park.”
The state-of-the-art park, according to Wembley Sports Construction Limited, is a solely Ghanaian-owned company with expertise in artificial turf construction across the country, and have about 450- seater stands for spectator’s floodlights, an inner perimeter, fencing changing and washrooms, VIP sitting area, a gym, conference area and offices.
