The organizers of the Africa Monologue Challenge have confirmed receipt of an undisclosed cash sponsorship from the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA).
The sponsorship comes as part of the GTA’s commitment to support laudable initiatives that have the potential to boost the tourism industry in Ghana.
The Africa Monologue Challenge was launched on April 5th, 2022, by M.K Casting, the African Chamber of Content Producers, and the National Film Authority of Ghana.
The event aims to promote cooperation among African countries and provide a platform for emerging African talents to showcase their skills.
The Africa Monologue Challenge provides a crucial opportunity for African actors to tell their own stories and celebrate the diversity and potential of the continent. The event is designed to match the standard of performances in Hollywood with existing or emerging African talents and position them strategically for global roles.
As the interest in black talent in the global film industry deepens, the demand for African acting potentials is growing and must be explored. The Africa Monologue Challenge is a vital initiative that supports this exploration, and the sponsorship from the GTA is a significant boost to the event’s efforts.
The panel of judges for the challenge consists of nine industry professionals, including casting directors, directors, and producers from Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, Uganda, Kenya, Germany, the United States of America, and the United Kingdom. They have been responsible for selecting the ten best performers to participate in the event’s final stage at UPSA auditorium in Accra on Saturday 27th May 2023.
The organizers of the Africa Monologue Challenge expressed their gratitude to the Ghana Tourism Authority for their support of the event. CEO of MK Casting, Mawuko Kuadzi stated that the sponsorship would go a long way in ensuring the success of the challenge and that they looked forward to working with the GTA to promote Ghana’s tourism industry.
“The GTA’s sponsorship support of the Africa Monologue Challenge demonstrates its commitment to promoting the tourism industry in Ghana.
By supporting events that showcase the country’s cultural heritage and artistic talent, the GTA hopes to attract more visitors to Ghana and strengthen the country’s reputation as a vibrant and dynamic tourist destination.
“My team and I are therefore going to work hard to ensure that the vision of the GTA is achieved through initiatives like the African Monologue Challenge”, Executive Director of the African Chamber of Content Producers, Amb. Dwomoh-Doyen Benjamin noted.
He expressed the Chamber’s gratitude to the support extended to the organizers of the Africa Monologue Challenge. He called on corporate Ghana and other institutions to support such initiatives to drive Africa’s development agenda.
“The Africa Monologue Challenge is an excellent initiative that promotes African cultural heritage and artistic talent. The support of the Ghana Tourism Authority is a welcomed development that will help to promote the event and attract more public interests. It is hoped that other organizations will follow the GTA’s lead and support similar initiatives that promote African culture and tourism”, he said.
