Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, has officially declared his intention to contest for the position of National First Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), pledging to strengthen the party’s structures and help lead its efforts to reclaim political power in the 2028 general elections.
In a statement addressed to party leaders, elders, patrons and members, Nana B said his decision was driven by a sense of duty and more than two decades of dedicated service to the NPP.
Describing the move as “a calling born out of twenty-six years of active, dedicated, and unbroken service,” he said he had gained extensive experience from serving the party at every level, from the polling station to the national leadership.
“I believe this experience has prepared me to serve in a higher capacity: to strengthen our party structures, to deepen unity within our rank and file, and to sharpen our collective resolve as we march toward one defining mission—reclaiming power from the NDC in the 2028 general elections,” he stated.
Nana B highlighted his extensive record of service within the party, including serving twice as Polling Station Chairman in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem and Oforikrom constituencies, Communications Officer for the Oforikrom Constituency, and a member of the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Constituency Campaign Team.
His leadership journey also includes serving as TESCON President at both the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Director of Events and Programmes of the National Youth Wing, National Youth Organiser, and National Organiser.
At the national level, Nana B has served on the Ashanti Regional Campaign Team in 2016, the National Communications Team, the 2020 Presidential Election Petition Legal Team, and the party’s National Campaign Teams for the 2020 and 2024 elections.
He currently serves as Vice Chairman of the 2025 National Delegates Conference Planning Committee and is a member of the National Steering Committee, National Executive Committee, and National Council.
According to Nana B, his leadership ambition is founded on five core principles: service, loyalty, discipline, inclusiveness, and an unwavering commitment to the ideals of the NPP.
He stressed that the party’s future success would depend on unity, experience and disciplined leadership capable of rebuilding the party ahead of the next general election.
“The road ahead demands courage. It demands experience. And it demands leaders who are willing to fight, not for themselves, but for the cause. I humbly offer myself for that task,” he said.
He appealed to party members for their prayers, guidance and support as he embarks on his campaign for the National First Vice Chairman position.
