At a press conference in Accra, Dr Oleg Nivievskyi. Vice President of Economic Education, Associate Member at the Center for Food and Land Use Research at the Kyiv School of Economics, said the war in Ukraine has taken a global dimension and has cascading effects on many global economies, including Ghana.
Prices of foods and other commodities in the country, he noted, are escalating because of the war in Ukraine, adding that unavailability and high cost of fertilizer for farming are part of ramifications of the Russian invasion.
According to him, food insecurity across the globe is imminent if pragmatic measures are not put in place to stop the war in the nearest future.
Tetiana Pechonchyk. Head of the Human Rights Centre ZMINA, described the war as a complete violation of the fundamental human right of ordinary citizens in the Ukraine, saying Russia is also violating many international protocols during this attack.
She disclosed that many schools, hospitals and other private properties have been destroyed by the Russians in Ukraine and called for solidarity to stop such crimes against citizens in the Ukraine.
Dr Olexiy Haran, a Professor of Comparative Politics, National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy (UKMA), maintained that the ultimate solution to curb the situation in Ukraine and its impact on other countries is to mount pressure on Russia to end the war.
