Saltpond witnessed a remarkable homecoming celebration as renowned business magnate and philanthropist, Dr. Daniel McKorley, graced the occasion with an inspiring message of transformation. Addressing the people of Saltpond, Dr. McKorley emphasized the urgent need to utilize education, entrepreneurship, and innovation to secure a prosperous future for the community.
In his speech, he stressed the central role of education and human capital development, urging stakeholders to renew their commitment by investing in schools and equipping them with modern digital tools. “We must build partnerships that prepare our children for the global future. Right now, we are in an AI-driven world, and our youth must be prepared to compete globally,” he stated.
Dr. McKorley shared his entrepreneurial perspective upon arriving in Saltpond, noting his vision of transforming the town into a center of wealth creation and innovation.
Inspired by Elmina’s economic success, he proposed that Saltpond could boost tourism and offer visitors a richer experience by building a waterpark, an amusement park, and high-quality restaurants.
He also commended the youth of Saltpond for their creativity, talent, and resilience, particularly in sports and innovation. Expressing his commitment, he pledged support to mentor and empower young entrepreneurs. “If we create incubation hubs, vocational training centers, and mentorship platforms, our youth will no longer need to leave in search of opportunities,they can build their future right here,” he affirmed.
On agriculture and agro-processing, Dr. McKorley highlighted the fertile lands and rich fishing culture of Saltpond and Mfantsiman, calling for a shift beyond primary production toward processing, packaging, and branding. “The future lies in creating products proudly labeled ‘Made in Saltpond.’ With determination and collaboration, this can be achieved within the next 12 months,” he emphasized.
The homecoming celebration was crowned with the commissioning of a sustainable water project for the Saltpond Municipal Hospital, a gesture that directly addresses one of the community’s pressing challenges. Dr. McKorley underscored that this achievement that illustrate the power of community partnerships in driving impactful change.
With his message, Dr. McKorley reignited hope for Saltpond, pointing the way toward a future built on education, innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development.*
