The Koforidua Police have arrested a 28-year-old mentally deranged person for allegedly butchering his own father with a machete killing him in the process.
The suspect, Kelvin De-Graft Quist, is in Police custody after a complaint was lodged against him at the Koforidua police command over the murder of his 57-year-old father- retired Accountant, Mr. Agbenyega Emmanuel De-Graft Quist, aged 57.
The dastardly incident occurred at Okorase Junction 10, a suburb of Koforidua in the Eastern Region.
The New Crusading GUIDE gathered that at about 8 O’clock in the morning, one Dora Afua Brenya, a Nurse of H/No. Unmarked Okorase Junction 10, called at the Koforidua charge office and reported the suspect who happened to be her son for murdering his father in cold blood.
Police Prosecutor in charge, D/Cpl. Gabriel Ayiglo confirmed the incident and indicated that upon the receiving the complaint from the suspect’s mother, the regional crime scene team visited the crime scene and discovered the deceased lying on the floor in a prone position, wearing a red and white short sleeves shirt over a pair of trousers in a pool of blood.
D/Cpl. Gabriel Ayiglo also mentioned that the deceased sustained multiple cutlass wounds all over his body. The police, he said, processed the scene and took photographs after which the body was deposited at the Regional Hospital Mortuary Koforidua, pending autopsy.
