The Ahene family of Massa Akropong ison warpath against the Omanhene of Massa Amenfi, for allegedly commandeering hoodlums to exhume the body of their late brother, John Keane Boakye ,who was buried at the family cemetery at Kyekyewere near Massa Akropong in the Eastern region.
Members of the family who were taken aback by the actions of the chief, held a press conference in Accra where they stated that they were at the funeral ground the same day their brother was buried when information reached them indicating that the chief and his gang had exhumed the dead body.
They also said the Omanhene also caused the demolition of the house of one Madame Manu who was also a family member without any justification.
Addressing the media, Peter Nana Amankwah, spokesperson of the Ahene Family, said “the perpetrators continue to unleash mayhem on the family members with impunity.”
He said on December 21, 2018, their last petition letter was sent to the high command of the Ghana Police Service through the Western Regional Command, but no response has been received as to steps the police has taken to arrest the perpetrators even though names were provided.
He also mentioned that the Omanhene continue to unleash mayhem on family members including ordering demolition of members, houses.
“He personally assaulted me and ban the family from performing funerals of members who passed on until the family produces Peter Nana Amankwah to appear before him,” he said.
He said the conduct of the Omanhene is causing unrest particularly among the Ahene family and therefore appealed to the higher authorities; especially the Minister for Interior, minister for chieftaincy and the IGP to intervene in their matter and put the chief to order.
