The Teshie Traditional Council has sent a stern warning to anyone parading himself as the paramount chief of the area to desist from such act or face the full rigours of the law.

The Council has also called on the general public to disregard anyone who would introduce himself as chief for the area, but that the area has no substantive paramount chief.

The area, the Council said, currently has no chief therefore, Nii Gbetsoolo, who is allegedly receiving support from the President of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs should be immediately rejected.

Speaking at a news conference in Accra yesterday, spokesperson for the Teshie Traditional Council, Nii Nortey Tuaka II, indicated that anybody parading himself as chief for the area is only serving his family but not the entire traditional area.

“Nii Nortey Okwei Kinka Dowuona VI, the paramount chief of Osu and also the President of the Greater Accra House of Chiefs is holding Teshie to ransom” he alleged.

Nii Tuaka II observed that he and the entire Teshie are ready to deal with anyone illegally holding himself as chief of Teshie.

“The regional house of chiefs produced a report in 2016 which spelt out clearly who should be a Chief, Mankralo and Shikitele , of Teshie, it may therefore interest you to know that the Osu Mantse was the chairman of the committee which produced that report” he stated.

He stated that in some few months a letter from the Osu Mantse came to withdraw the aspect of the report that concerned the Mankralo, adding that, the position did not allow for the installation of the person that was recommended in the report as chief of Teshie.

“We want to state here now that what we should call a final report was finished in November 2018 and copies went out into the public. It is unfortunate that as we speak today, the Osu Mantse, who happens to be the President of the Greater Accra  Regional House of Chiefs now has refused to officially release the report to us as Teshie people” the spokesperson intoned.

Nii Tuaka II stated that the Osu Mantse wants the pages that contain the names of recommended candidates removed and to replace with names nobody knows where he personally got them from.

He also alleged that some influential persons within and out of government are also interested negatively in the affairs of Teshie chieftaincy matters and are therefore, allegedly aiding the Osu Mantse in his clandestine activities.
