He has also refuted the Attorney-General Dominic Ayine’s allegation that he had fled to Senegal to avoid probe; disclosing that he would return after his board meetings to provide full cooperation and information to support the Attorney General’s investigations.

In a press statement yesterday, Mr. Asamoah rebuffed the allegations that he had not gone into hiding in Senegal, insisting he travelled there on business meetings.

“I have not committed any wrongdoing and I absolutely have no reason to run

away from justice, I will return home shortly to offer all the assistance and information necessary to support the AG’s investigations which will ultimately vindicate my reputation and integrity,” the statement indicated.

“I categorically deny the false and incorrect allegations that I have gone into hiding in Senegal. This claim is entirely inaccurate and untrue, in fact, I travelled out of Ghana on Friday 21st March 2025 to attend scheduled board meetings as part of a corporate responsibility that was planned well in advance,” he explained.

Asamoah emphasized that he had been in Ghana for extended periods during February, March, and had never been contacted by any government officials regarding an investigation into his activities.

“Prior to my departure, I have been present in Ghana for long periods in both February and March. During this period, I was never contacted by any government official in relation to an invitation to assist in any investigation,” he added.

Mr. Asamoah disclosed that after his departure, he was contacted by an official from the National Intelligence Bureau via WhatsApp on Saturday, March 22, 2025.

The official he mentioned requested an online meeting, which Asamoah confirmed was scheduled for Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at 4 p.m.

“This meeting will allow me to address any misconceptions or misunderstandings related to GIIF’s investments,” Asamoah explained.

The former CEO highlighted that during his seven-year tenure, GIIF achieved cumulative net profits exceeding GHS 2.5 billion, more than doubling its initial capital of GHS 1.2 billion.

Again, Mr. Asamoah added that this success enabled GIIF to grow its fund to GHS 5.2 billion by the end of 2023, making it one of the best-performing infrastructure funds on the African continent.

“I have worked with integrity, transparency, and accountability throughout my international career. This includes the seven years I ran GIIF, where the institution was profitable every year,” Asamoah stated.

Further Mr. Asamoah announced that he would return soon to offer full cooperation with the Attorney General’s office, to restore his reputation and integrity.

“I will return home shortly to offer all the assistance and information necessary to support the AG’s investigations which will ultimately vindicate my reputation and integrity,” he assured.
