The Municipal Chief Executive for Abuakwa North in the Eastern Region, Alhaji Umar Bodinga has urged the residents of the area to refute allegations of project abandonment made by the opposition National Democratic Congress, NDC, emphasizing that construction is progressing diligently.
This follows the construction of inner roads in the Municipality’s current undertaking by a General Construction Firm, and the NDC is preaching that the Contractor has abandoned the projects.
However, on a tour recently, the Contractor was on the site with its machines working progressively on the inner roads such as Kukurantumi to Tafo stretch, and Kukurantumi to Asafo stretch, among other inner roads contrary to the reports that he has abandoned the projects.
The MCE, Alhaji Bodinga reacting to the report, after inspecting the ongoing projects, expressed worries over the lies preached by the NDC, as he showcased the active work on inner roads and other municipal developments.
Bodinga stated, “I called you here to witness what is going on here, day in -day out constructors are working. It is not true that constructors have left the site; so far, I can say I’m happy with the work they are doing.”
He expressed satisfaction with the speed of progress, asserting that the roads would be coated by December.
Highlighting the broader scope of development, Bodinga revealed that 15 streets, along with drainage systems, are under construction.
He also announced plans to approach the Ministry of Road and Highways to address a crucial road leading to the main road, underscoring its significance for residents.
The contractor on his side also echoed Bodinga’s sentiments, confirming their continuous presence on-site since these cutting ceremonies.
Both the MCE and the contractor urged the public to disregard any misinformation about project abandonment.
In a show of community support, some of the residents and local businesses have rallied behind the ongoing projects, recognizing the positive impact on the municipality’s infrastructure.
Local shop owners near the construction sites expressed optimism about increased accessibility and foot traffic once the roads are completed.
Looking ahead, Alhaji Umar Bodinga emphasized the commitment of President Akufo Addo-led administration to improving roads and communities.
He assured residents that the administration is actively monitoring and investing in essential infrastructure projects to enhance the overall quality of life in Abuakwa North.
