The Chief Linguist ofPrampam Paramount Area, Nene KodjoOpeiIV, has urge all and sundry to ignore the rantings of NumoOsabu Abbey IV, who claims to be the stool father of the Prampram Paramount Area in the Greater Region, and be rest assured there would be sprinkling of Kpokpoi at this year’s Homowo festival by Nene TettehWakah, the chief of the paramouncy.
“The picture OsabuAbbey paints about a potential tension in area as a result of a supposed chieftaincy dispute exists only in his imagination. There is a chief in the person of Nene TettehWakah, and that honour should and would be given him. The Regional House of Chief’s ruling never said there is no chief in Prapram, it said the issue between him and his uncle, whom he stood in for when he was sick and is refusing to give back what rightfully belongs to the uncle to him should be heard again at the traditional council. It never declared him winner, so why the haste? Nene KodjoOpeiIV quizzed.
Nene KodjoOpei IV told the paper when he visited our office, that people just want to reap where they did not sow otherwise the real Stool father was gazetted on 31st March, 2003, and all the documents are there to show. “OsabuAbbey was only brought in as caretaker Stool father when his uncle was sick but is refusing to hand over to his uncle, and they have been going back and forth about it but that would not affect our celebration of the Homowo,” he indicated.
Narrating how the Stool father dispute got to where it is now,Nene KodjoOpeiIV said thattwo people in the Kwei-Opretu Waku House have been calling themselves Stool Father of the PrampramGyaase and that “After lengthy deliberations, Numo Abraham T. Pardie (Head of Family for the Ablewanko Family) concluded that it is the Royal House /KweiOpretu Waka-Wem where the Royal Stool Father hails from. For that reason therefore the Kwei-Opretu Family should go back and settle among themselves amicably, this is because they know very well that there exists a gazzated stool father in the Kwei-Opretu Waka house yet still they were trying to add another one, this he considers as an affront to Traditional order at PrampramGyaase”.
Another meeting was held at the KweiOpretu-Waka House and a delegation, comprisingNumoNazzer Abbey, Numo Abbey-Doku – Mansro, Late TettehDjan Abbey, and the late Cosmos Abbey were sent to Lolonya – (Ada) to go and bring NumoTeyeLarbi Abbey IV, the legitimate Stool Father for questioning.
According to the Chief Linguist, “It was in November 2014 when the delegation came down with him from Lolonya-Ada. He told the house that it was illness that kept him away for long time and that he does not need any assistance in the duties as a stool father.”
In a weeks’ time AsafoatseGuantadua IV, Ebenezer TettehDjan Abbey, TawiahPardie. The late Cosmos Abbey and Doku Abbey Mansro lured the stool Father NumoTeyeLarbi Abbey IV to Numo Ebenezer TettehDjan’s house in a bush and convinced him that he should not go to the Ada Area again because they wanted to build a house for him at Prampram.
Numo Ebenezer TettehDjan who was the architect of the whole deal took the gazzated stool father NumoTeyeLarbi Abby IV to a letter – writer at Tema Community – Centre; typed a letter for him to sign that he would agree for an assistance with a house to be built for him. NumoTeyeLarbi-Abbey IV being an illiterate without even knowing the contents of the typed letter signed it.
NumoOsabu Abbey took this letter to the late Paramount chief, Nene TetterhDjan III that he should accept him at the Prampram Traditional Council and register him. However, the late chief refused. The late Nene TettehDjan’s rejection of the request by NumoOsaby Abbey brought a bitter quarrel between the two of them.
This unnecessary bitter quarrel between NumoOsabu Abbey and late Paramount chief Nene TettehDjan III dragged on for some time.
Nene KodjoOpei indicated that the rest is a very long story including the Benin juju and all that but what I want to say is that PrampramParamouncy has a legitimate Stool Father (Gazzetted Stool Father) in the person of NumoTeye Abbey IV of the KweiOpretu Waka House, not until he is dead or destooled by the PrampramGyaase, no other stool father can be enstooled”.
Stay tuned for more.
