The township of Kade, in the eastern region, and its surrounding communities are experiencing a record number of fire disasters and the inability of the Ghana Fire Service Department in the area to handle the situation as a result of poor and dysfunctional fire equipment is putting losts of human lives and properties at risk.
On March 15, 2025, Kade recorded a devastating fire outbreak that completely destroyed a three-story building.
Unfortunately, the building was largely destroyed, with only two apartments surviving the blaze. The top floor was completely burnt out.
What is even more concerning is that the Kade Fire Station lacked a fire tender, forcing personnel to fight the fire with limited resources.
Despite these challenges, they managed to bring the situation under control.
This incident highlights the need for adequate firefighting equipment and resources in Kade.
The people of Kafe are therefore appealing to government to intervene and resource the Ghana Fire service to be proactive on top of its operations.
