Ambassadors for Peace and Justice Foundation-Ghana is a Non-Governmental Peace Organization established by Mohammed Bashir Tijani to promote peace, unity, justice, transparency and social justice to all manner of person.

The organization was born on 2 March, 2013, when 2012 election petition was in Supreme Court.

Touching on the award, the President of the foundation, Muhammed Bashir Jijani outlined detailed procedures that were employed in selecting Mr. Ofori Snr. as the best MCE.

He stated that “They are mandated to serve the nation that is why they are here. It may happen that, the one you have no respect for is actually the one with relevant information which will benefit you in your administration “

Mohammed Bashir Tijani reading the citation stated that the MCE’s zeal to develop his municipality and improve upon the well-being of his constituents was remarkable and that made his leadership outstanding.

He urged other MCEs to emulate the good works of those in rural areas.

In his acceptance speech, the MCE thanked the Directors of Peace and Justice Foundation for the recognition.

According to him, “The good works seen in the municipality today is as a result of a collective decision and unity among us which has brought much development to the municipality and his individual efforts.

But the Finance and Administration chairman apparently stated that the award was just one of the propaganda machines since the MCE has performed abysmally rather some people wanted to woo the President to consider the re-appointment of the MCE.

According to Hon. Nkrumah “ The National best performing MCE and Municipal award organized by National Council and Board of directors of the Ambassadors for peace and Justice Foundation- Ghana is self-tickled,  propaganda and a form of campaign to reappoint Hon. Emmanuel Atta Ofori senior as MCE).”

Hon. Kofi Nkrumah Asante in an exclusive interview with the paper challenged the foundation to come out with the criteria used to grade the Municipal as the best performing MCE and Municipality.

The Assemblyman for New Oworobong electoral area asked the reason why the foundation saw it necessary to present this award at this time, adding that, the attempt can be described as a way of lobbying to be reappointed by the government.

Kofi Nkrumah Asante further disclosed that in the past three-year tenure of office of the MCE, the municipality has not passed its District Development Fund (DDF) assessment except 2020.

Kofi Nkrumah Asante stated that as he remains as the chairman of Finance and Administration Sub-Committee of the assembly, he would not condone any form of corruption under his watch.

He touched on some projects which he alleged that due diligent was not followed and has threatened to proceed to EOCO for investigation to be conducted into the matter.

Responding to the issues raised by the Finance and A Sub-Committee chairman when contacted on the phone, the MCE went a little bit below the belt descended heavily on the former, describing him as a mad person.

He explained that, his F and A sub-committee chairman lacks basic knowledge in local governance otherwise he should have been on top of issues and therefore should not be taken seriously.

According to him, the Assemblyman is gaining notoriety of creating problems for MCEs and other people in the municipality including the former MCE for the area Hon. Joseph Omari.

The MCE indicated that, the Assemblyman whom he (MCE) entered into the Assembly with at the same time as an Assemblyman before becoming the MCE would come to you for a support and once, he (Assemblyman) is denied, would launch a campaign against you.

The aforementioned allegation that has been denied by the Assemblyman and challenged the MCE to produce evidence to support his argument.

On the DDF, he admitted that, out of the three years, the Assembly won one and waiting for the 2020 which the Assembly is likely to pass.
