…Abusuapanin Kwaku Kakari Refutes Tension Claims
The Abusuapayin of Asona Babaduam of Akyem Kwabeng, Bafour Kwaku Kakari has debunked claims of a brewing tension in the area over who ascend the Kwarbeng Stool.
Abusuapayin Kwaku Kakari, who was speaking in an interview over agitations against an intended enstoolment of one Addison Kwabena Boateng Nuama whom, according to Akyem Kwarbeng Concerned Citizens is a custodian to the Suuman shrine as chief, said Addison Kwabena Boateng Nuama has gone through all the customary requirements to be installed as chief.
He mentioned that the Kwarbeng community in the past had some challenges regarding the occupancy of the Stool.
According to him, during the reigns of the late chief Nana Dankwa the community was faced with a sad situation of who was right to become a chief but the community is currently enjoying absolute peace.
Abusuapayin Kwaku Kakari explained that by the Kwarbeng custom, chiefs are elected from any of the three ruling gates/houses.
“The community has no major stake in who becomes a chief or not. We have three gates from which we select our chiefs. It is the responsibility of the Kingmakers to look at the gate from which a chief must come from, the people is selected and introduced to the Gyase, the Mankralo and those that matter,” he said.
He continued that after the prospective chief was introduced to these people, he is again sent to the Okyehene who will vet the candidate and find him worthy to ascend the Stool, the family is then given the clearance to conduct the installation.
He averred that the first two gates had their turns of ruling the Kwarbeng community and that the time has come for the Baba Duamu Family to select, nominate and install a chief.
He said Addison Kwabena Boateng Nuama is from the Baba Duamu Family and had gone through all the processes for which he has the blessings to become the chief.
Abusuapayin of Asona Babaduam however called on citizens of Kwarbeng to stand united and support the new chief in bringing development.
He said every community is moving ahead in development and that dragging Kwarbeng back to the abyss with the petty chieftaincy disagreements will not auger well for the people.
