Veteran journalist and political commentator Kwesi Pratt Jnr. has strongly refuted claims that he endorsed Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for the upcoming 2024 presidential election. In a press statement issued on September 6, 2024, Pratt labeled the reports as entirely false, stating that he has not participated in any media discussions for over a month due to his travels.
The false report, which allegedly circulated online, claimed that Pratt predicted a victory for Bawumia during a morning show on Pan-African Television on September 5, 2024. However, Pratt categorically denied making such a prediction or appearing on the show. He emphasized that the political landscape points to a different outcome in the 2024 election.
Pratt further condemned what he described as “deceitful and scandalous gimmicks” by elements within the Bawumia campaign, urging them to respect the electorate. He made it clear that he has never called on Ghanaians to vote for or support Dr. Bawumia’s campaign in any way.
In his statement, Pratt criticized the spread of false information, attributing it to desperate forces within the Vice President’s campaign. He warned that the 2024 elections could not be won through such unethical tactics.
The press statement by Kwesi Pratt has sparked discussions on the integrity of political campaigning as Ghana heads towards the December 2024 elections.
