Calm has returned to the leadership and staff of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) Headquarters in Accra after a tension between the then Chief Revenue Officer in charge of Auction at Customs, Mr. Eric Afari and the Commissioner for Customs Division of the GRA, Brigadier General Ziblim Ayorrogo, and other staff.
The tension also affected the working relations between the Commissioner for Customs Division of the GRA, Brigadier General Ziblim Ayorrogo and the first female Commissioner-General of the GRA, Julie Essiam
But painstaking information indicate that Mr. Afari has been replaced with one Mr. Kwame Agyemang Badu.
Brigadier General Ziblim Ayorrogo is now the Officer in charge of Auction unit at the Customs.
Mr. Kwame Agyemang Badu reportedly took officer about two weeks ago and “now everything is at the right place and everyone is performing his roles”, a source told this paper.
A source close to the Commission alleged that these two heads took office at the same time when Rev. Dr. Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah was relieved from his duties on March 27, 2024.
Report suggests that Brigadier General Ziblim Ayorrogo had made series of attempts to effect changes at the GRA but Ms. Essiam is reportedly putting impediments on his efforts.
The new Commissioner of Customs, Brigadier General Ziblim Ayorrogo had from the date of appointment, not been able to effect any operational changes due to the fact that, the Commissioner General of GRA; Julie Essiam is preventing him do so but moment after the exit of Mr. Afari, things have fall into place, the source added.
The source says “More shaking are expected to to happen and as such everyone must carry on their duties effectively because Mr. Badu can still do embark on reshuffle”.
The source said “now, due to the changes, Commissioner-General, Ms. Julie Essiam is demanding to verify when the gazettes are out but it doesn’t work like that. The Commissioner General should stay away for the Commissioner Ziblim to perform his duties because all these are the duties of Mr. Ziblim”.
Some of the workers who spoke on condition of anonymity had hope Mr. Kwame Agyemang Badu and the other commissioners would perform his duties effectively to the benefit of the state.
