The Managing Editor of The Insight Newspaper and a stunch Pan-Africanist, Mr. Kwesi Pratt Jnr has issued a forceful call for African leaders to fast-track a continent-wide monetary system that is fully independent of foreign influence.
Speaking at the 5th Commemoration of the Pan-African Progressive Front Forum in Ghana, Pratt warned that Africa will continue to lag behind if its economies remain tied to systems shaped by external powers. He described current monetary structures in parts of the continent as “leftovers of colonial domination,” insisting that real progress depends on Africa seizing full political and economic control.
Pratt further urged governments to invest in a strong military-industrial base to push back against neo-colonial pressures and boost Africa’s global leverage.
Other speakers at the event backed his position, stressing that economic sovereignty is the cornerstone of true continental independence.
