An Ex. Military officer, WO 1 Wonder Amemeleo, has is accusing the Managing Director of ERATA hotel, Eddie KusiAnkomah, of forcibly taking his land, situated at Shiashi, East Legon, In Accra, which he acquired and has occupied for over 38 years.
Narrating his ordeal to the paper, WO1 Wonder said in June 2020, one Seth in his neighborhood came to his house and informed him that Mr. Eddie KusiAnkomah, the boss of Erata Hotel had asked him (Seth) to come with him to his house for a discussion.
“Since we are all living in the same area, I went with him. At that meeting in Eddie KusiAnkomah’s house, he asked me whether I have documents on the land where l live in Shiashie. I found that question quite strange and I asked him why that question. His answer was he is a good friend of the Shiashie chief and that he could assist me get one if I don’t have. I replied him that I have been living in my walled Shiashie house for the past thirty-eight (38) years and have no issue with the chief,” he said.
The ex-Military officer said that he unfortunately fell sick exactly three (3) days after that meeting and travelled to his village for herbal treatment. “Whiles I was in the village, my wife called me to say that Eddie KusiAnkomah together with about twenty-five (25) heavily built land guards with artisans and building materials had come to my house, broke one side of my fence wall and fixed a metal gate.”
He continued: “My wife told me that whilst they were fixing the gate, others had trenched one side of the land and were casting concrete to build a fence wall to divide my land. I was so sick and my wife was so terrified and since she was alone in the house, she couldn’t do anything and by the time l returned to Accra, he had divided my land and was building on the side he had fixed a gate under the pretext that he had purchased that part of my land from the Toboase Family of Okponglo.”
WO 1Amemeleo said all attempts to get ERATA to stop working on the land proved futile. “Later, he convened another meeting with me, Seth, the assembly man in the area and the chief’s brother. At that meeting he offered to buy my land he forcefully was building on. I objected-vehemently to his proposal and asked him to move his structure from my land. Since then, he has been playing all kinds of tactics and intimidations including using policemen at Accra Regional Police Headquarters to put fear in me,” Ex- WO 1 Amemeleoadded.
But when the New Crusading GUIDE reached Eddie Ankomah for comments, he invited our reporter to his office, and in the office, introduced one Mohammed AwalAbdul Fataw who said he then held the Power of Attorney for the Toboase family and they were owners of Shiashie, East Legon lands.
Mohammed Abdul Fataw he led the entire transaction. He said the Toboase family had won a judgement that enabled them to take any land that has not been developed in the area and that of Ex-Military officer was undeveloped, so they (the family) decided to sell to ERATA hotel boss who is now developing the land.
“We called the Ex-military officer to show that the land belongs to him, he could not provide any documents or evidence before the police so he cannot claim to be the owner of the land today, We even paid him for his chippings on the land which he collected through his daughter,” said Mohammed Abdul Fataw.
When the Ex- Military officer was confronted with this findings, he said it was a bogus allegation and that if the land truly belonged to the Toboase family why didthey called him in a meeting wanting to buy the land from him. He challenged the paper to cross check from the Assembly man of the area who was at the meeting when Eddie KusiAnkomah made a proposal to him to buy his land.
He debunked the allegation that he had no documents, adding that, he has everything covering the land.
Meanwhile, The Crusading GUIDE checksat the Courts, revealed that there has been stay of execution on the Toboase judgement where Eddie KusiAnkomah takes his root of title.
