President John Dramani Mahama yesterday submitted and released a new set of ministerial nominees, including nine cabinet positions and three regional ministers to Parliament for approval.
Haruna Iddrisu, a seasoned politician and former Minority Leader in Parliament, has been nominated as Minister for Education.
Governs Kwame Agbodza is set to take charge of the Roads and Highways Ministry, a vital sector for improving infrastructure and enhancing connectivity across the country.
In agriculture, Eric Opoku has been named Minister-designate for Food and Agriculture. With a solid track record in rural development, he is expected to focus on improving food security and providing support to farmers.
Opare Addo, the NDC Youth Organiser, has been chosen to lead the newly established Ministry for Youth Development and Empowerment. This ministry will prioritize youth-related initiatives, focusing on reducing unemployment and encouraging innovation.
Elizabeth Ofosu Agyare has been nominated to oversee the Ministry for Trade and Agribusiness. Her focus will include strengthening Ghana’s trade partnerships and boosting agribusiness as a key contributor to the economy.
Ahmed Ibrahim is set to lead the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, while Emelia Arthur has been nominated to head the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture.
The appointments, covering important regions and ministries, are expected to enhance the government’s emphasis on governance, infrastructure, youth development, and economic progress
