As the preparations towards NPP flagbearership contest gather pace, Dr Bawumia has been in contact with the party’s kingmakers (delegates), to sell his vision, plants and policies to make them appreciate the fact that he is the best, not just for NPP, but Ghana.
His tour of the regions have been massively and enthusiastically welcomed by the party members, which is a clear testament of his popularity within the party’s grassroot members.
In all his engagements with these party members, comprising both current and past executives, his cardinal message has been decent campaign devoid of intemperate language. His focus is on uniting the party behind the ultimate winner, and that would be easier when we do not “tear ourselves apart during intra-party contests”.
Even among the general Ghanaian voter population, Dr. Bawumia is highly rated to lead the NPP into the 2028 elections, since he currently the most visible and well- marketed personality on Ghana’s political scene.
And this fact was further cemented at a meeting with party delegates during his tour of the Greater Accra region, where the NPP MP for Trobu Constituency, Hon. Gloria Owusu gave an account of how market women recently approached to impress upon her that the party ensured Dr. Bawumia was made to “lead the party into election 2028”.
The market women preferred Dr. Bawumia because they say he is “courteous, humble, and decent in his campaign message”.
