The sitting Member of Parliament(MP) for Tarkwa Nsuaem constituency Hon. George Mireku Duker who retained his seat at the just ended New Patriotic Party’s(NPP) Parliamentary Primaries has expressed his profound appreciation in the show of commitment and loyalty on the part of the delegates who turned up to vote massively for him.
Hon. Duker pulled 1,187 votes out of a total of 1,256 votes, representing over 95% of the total votes cast in percentage terms.
In an ‘exclusive’ with the lawmaker to find out what did the trick for him in such a massive win, Hon. Duker stated that as a Member of Parliament representing the good people of Tarkwa, “I’ve always made sure I touch base with my people, try to help them in diverse ways as much as I can even though it’s quite difficult sometimes but I can’t ever fail my people”.
“As for the projects and infrastructure… is there for all to see and they know I can do more that is why they reposed that trust and confidence in me in such a manner as evidenced or translated in the massive votes for me”, he added.
“I did my grounds work very well as usual and knew I was going to win but I didn’t quite expect such a huge and gigantic margins especially when I had two other contenders in the race with me, so for me I’m honestly thankful and appreciate the delegates’ level of confidence in me”, he modestly stated.
The two other contenders were Gordon Opoku Boateng and one Ellias, both garnered 46 and 22 votes respectively.
The election was generally peaceful and Hon. Duker once again has the opportunity to represent the good people of Tarkwa-Nsuaem for the third time on the ticket of the NPP.
