King makers and principal members of the Oyoko Royal family of Adjena –Tafoman in the Kwamu Traditional Area have debunked allegations making rounds about the destoolment of the Queen Mother of the area, Nana Okorwaa IV.
The Royal family in a press statement noted that such purported destoolment of the Queen Mother of the area by some unscrupulous persons is false and should be treated with the contempt it deserves by the general public.
“The King makers and members of the Oyoko Royal family of Adjena –Tafoman wish to state and also inform the general public that the said purported destoolment is false and has no merit at all and that the general public should treat it with the contempt it deserves,” the statement noted.
The statement further noted that the Queen Mother who has served the people of the area for over three (3) decades remains and continues to be the legitimate Queen Mother of Adjena—Tafoman and that same can be ascertained from the records of the Akwamu Traditional Council.
“It must be stated that the allegations of wrongdoings leveled by these persons against the Queen Mother are untrue and are without any bases but for the their personal gains, as records available from the lands commission of Ghana indicate an embezzlement by Brobey Kingsley Twum also known as Nana Twum Bariman III and his cohorts for an amount of of GH₵9,713,6650.00 being dam site compensation paid to him and has not been accounted to the indigenous people of Adjena-Tafoman,” the statement further disclosed.
It is recalled that some weeks ago some supposed eleders of Adjena-Tafoman in the Eastern Region claimed to have destooled the Queen Mother of the Traditional Area following her alleged installation of a non-royal as chief of the area.
The supposed elders said they had abrogated the Queen Mother’s 35-year reign as queenmother of the Traditional Area for installing Osaberima Nana Appiah Boadu II as a chief of the area.
The elders say their actions were necessitated by the action of the queenmother despite a court mandamus instructing the Akwamu Traditional Council to recognise the legitimacy of the incumbent Chief, Nana Twum Barimah III but the Akwamu Traditional Council has filed a Notice of Appeal and a Stay of Execution against the said mandamus court ruling.
Other accusations leveled against Nana Okorwa were her failure to initiate development in the community, disregard for the elders of the community and insubordination.
According to them, the Queen Mother, on the 23rd of September, 2024, served notice of the destoolment of the so called chief of Adjena-Tafoman, Nana Twum Barimah III and in his place, installed Osaberima Nana Appiah Boadu II.
But the statement signed by the Royal family questioned the authority of those elders to destool the Queenmother.
“She is the Queenmother of Adjena, nobody can destool her, those who are making those noise are persons who’re not kingmakers, if you have any issues with her, it’s only her kingmakers who can talk to her and even you have to try her in a competent court of jurisdiction for her to be found guilty,” it stated.
The statement further advised the general public not to entertain or deal with those supposed elders on behalf of the Adjena-Tafoman but The Legitimate chief and queen mother.
