Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mustapha Foyoh Gbande, has warned that the NDC is ready to confront what he says is the nonsense of the Ashanti regional chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Benard Antwi Boasiako, aka Chairman Wontumi, if he brings it on during the 7 December elections.
Responding to comments by the NPP Chairman that should anything untoward happen in the region, he would ostracise the retired police chief who is now party of the security handlers of the NDC, with special focus on the NPP world bank, Mustapha Gbande said if the NPP brings a gun to the elections in December, the NDC would not bring wheelchairs and balloon.
“These elections will be the most peaceful election. If they bring arms into Ashanti region, we’ll not bring Wheelchairs, if the bring machomen, we’ll not bring balloons. The lection is going to be peaceful. It is not the NDC that will destroy the region but that the people who have exploited, used, benefited and abandoned the region who would want to destroy the region” he told the party security apparatus that had gathered.
The Deputy General Secretary of the NDC also disclosed that the former Ashanti Regional Police Commander, COP Nathan Kofi Boakye (retired.) has come to stay with the security architecture of the party, whether the regional chairman Wontumi likes it or not.
“Whether he fears Kofi Boakye or not, Kofi Boakye is party of the NDC. He will lead the NDC operations in the Ashanti region and there’s nothing Wontumi can do about it,” he told Journalists after the party’s security meeting in the Ashanti region over the weekend.
Recall that Mustapha Gbande had earlier assured the he would lead the arrest of the Ashanti Regional chairman when the NDC comes to power.
He claimed that Bernard Antwi Boasiako who is widely known as ‘Chairman Wontumi’ has been a threat to the nation’s water bodies with his illegal mining.
Mustapha Gbande told NEAT FM’s morning show, ‘Ghana Montie’, Friday, August 30, that, he will personally lead the arrest of Chairman Wontumi even in his hideout.
“I will pick up Wontumi from his house like a fowl when we come to power,” he assured.
