The New Juaben Traditional Council has installed the New Paramount Chief, Mr John Gyamfi with the stool name Nana Kwaku Boaten III, who sworn the oath of allegiance to the king makers and the people of New Juaben Traditional Area on 27th June 2022, after an official announcement in New Juaben on the morning hours of Sunday.
He was presented to kingmakers on the 6th of June 2022 and went into confinement for barely three (3) weeks instead of forty (40) days as expected in customs and traditions.
However, the Nana Duwaa’s gate of the Yiadom-Hwedie Royal family has expressed disappointment in the nomination and selection of the new Chief as being one-sided decision and an attempt to write them off from the stool’s royal courtesies. Despite an order for interlocutory injunction and a petition brought against Nana Otuo Siriboe II, the Paramount Chief Old Juaben and Chairman of the Council of State, Nana Akosua Akyamaa III, the Queenmother of Old Juaben and Mr John Gyamfi they went ahead with the processes of enstoolment.
This comes after a press release on Sunday 26th June 2022 by the Duwaa’s gate of the Yiadom-Hwedie Royal family.
They also mention the Registrar of the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs as delaying an order for substituted service stating the House has no funds at the time to organize a general meeting to appoint members to the Judicial Committee of the House to sit on the case.
