Member of Parliament (MP) for Nyiaeso Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Dr. Stephen Amoah, was the toast of his constituents, with many beside themselves with joy over the weekend after he unveiled as classy Constituency Development Office to cater for the needs of the people.
The MP also inaugurated Eight (8) committees-Welfare, Central Development, Education, Security, Environment, Health, Youth Development, Home Coming &Development, and Youth Development to amongst others ensure that the constituency affairs are steered smoothly.
Under the initiative, two patrol vehicles would be provided for the Security committee, for instance, to rid the various ghettos in the constituency off substance abusers, arrest Motto Bicycle users who do not have licenses and hand them over to the police in the constituency.
Also, children of school-going age would not be allowed to buy alcoholic beverages and Cigarettes. Gambling would be banned, as it has been identified to be one of the factors that lead the youth into social vices.
Addressing the gathering during the inauguration ceremony at the Saphire Garden at Atasomanso, in Kumasi last Sunday, the affable Dr. Stephen Amoah said that “Today, we set our constituency on a different pedestal and I believe that with these committees inaugurated Nhyiaeso constituency would soon take its place of pride.”
He called for the support of all and sundry, especially the rich in the constituency to support the committees to ensure that peace is brought to the area while the development agenda is set in motion.
Recall that the former MASLOC Chief Executive Chief, who is also an Investment Consultant won the Nhyiaeso constituency primaries of the New Patriotic Party(NPP).
With total votes of 332, Mr. Stephen Amoah was able to unseat then Member of Parliament, Kennedy Kankam who had 315 votes, and went on sweep the votes in the December 7 general elections.
