Pollster Mussa Dankwah says support for the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) is declining, while the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) continues to gain ground, based on ongoing tracking polls for March 2026.
In a Facebook post, he revealed that the latest face-to-face survey shows a steady drop in party affiliation for the NPP. According to him, the party previously held a narrow advantage ahead of the 2024 general elections, with 37% identification compared to the NDC’s 33%.
However, the most recent figures indicate a significant shift in voter sentiment. Only 25% of respondents now identify with the NPP, while 46% align with the NDC.
The disparity is even sharper in key swing regions such as Greater Accra Region, Central Region, and Western Region, where just 22% of voters associate with the NPP compared to 58% for the NDC.
Mr. Dankwah attributed the trend to recent political developments, including the aftermath of the NPP’s internal primaries and controversy surrounding cocoa pricing, noting that the current political climate remains challenging for the opposition.
The findings highlight mounting pressure on the NPP as it works to rebuild support following the 2024 elections, particularly in battleground regions that often determine electoral outcomes.
