The Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Divine Otoo Agorhom, has announced the party’s preparedness to increase its parliamentary seats from 21 to 24 out of the 34 seats in the region.
He is optimistic that the highly competent executives will work hard to help achieve the set goal in the region.
Statistics from Ghana’s election have shown that, any presidential candidate who wins the region ends up becoming president of the republic.
Chairman Agorhom gave this assurance at the inauguration of the party’s Greater Accra regional campaign committee in Accra yesterday.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by many prominent members of the party. Dignitaries included Minister for Foreign Affairs, Shirley Ayorkor Botwe, Chairman of Hajj Board, Sheik I.C Quaye, and Minister for Communications, Ursula Owusu, Former Accra Mayor, and Mr. Adjiri Blankson among other.
Chairman Agorhom, who was appointed as chairman of the campaign committee on the day was hopeful that the good work of President Akufo Addo and the NPP would go a long way to help the party achieve its object.
He however cautioned that victory would not come easily when there is no unity and hardwork by.
“The just ended voters’ registration exercise, where the greater Accra region recorded the highest number should tell us that we have a huge task to perform for our victory in the December elections” he indicated.
The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Ishmael Ashietey, was optimistic the team would work hard in a bid to retain the party in the December 7 elections.
“As soon as we deliver in the region, we have won the election. That is the message I receive wherever I go. This depicts that the campaign team we have inaugurated has a lot of work to do. I have noticed that anytime we win election along the coast, it leads to a total victory in the presidential elections. So we should concentrate most of our efforts along the coast. We have a campaign team that is going to guide us to do this work at the constituency level. I plead with the Regional Chairman in Accra that we have lots of experienced party members they could bring on board because we are ready to work for the party so we achieve our aim,” he added.
