The Chief of Staff of Nungua Mr. Frank Lewi has cautioned all tenants residing on all Nungua Stool lands without necessary documentation to come and regularize their stay or residence at the new Nungua Stool Lands Secretariat which was opened last week in order to avoid any harassment in future.
Mr. Lewi made this call after the Paramount Chief of Nungua Prof. Odaifio Welentsi and his Chiefs and Elders cut a sod last week to open the new Stool Lands Secretariat under the auspices of Prestige Group of Companies.
The Chief of Staff stated that it’s a fair opportunity for all those who have acquired Nungua Stool lands through sales from wrong people especially landguards to do themselves good by coming to the Stool Lands Secretariat to regularized their properties before it is too late.
He added saying; “we will soon form a task force which will be going round to inspect land certificates and land titles on all the landed properties on every land that belongs to the Nungua Stool so I think the secretariat has come at the right time to help the situation especially for those who genuinely want to do the right thing”.
He said, in pursuant to the LAND ACT 2022, ACT 1036, the NUNGUA STOOL LAND SECRETARIAT would undertake community education, sensitization and awareness creation on land issues. The Secretariat would have laid down processes for effective dispute resolution and facilitate the settlement of land disputes through Alternative Dispute Resolution. We are therefore with great interest to inform you that all the households and businesses that occupy the areas that fall within the jurisdiction of the Nungua Stool lands, irrespective of the government political boundaries, will be expected to pay royalties and fees which are of essence to the Nungua community.
Mr. Lewi added that very soon the Nungua Stool Lands Secretariat will be notifying you about the details of these royalties including the amount and mode of payment. This amount will vary depending on the type and size of the business. Each household and business would be served a letter concerning royalty fees, in advance. It is against this background that the Nungua Stool Secretariat would be fulfilling the LAND ACT 2020, (ACT 1036).
The areas that fall within the boundaries of the Nungua Stool Lands include; Oyibi through to Dodowa Road to Adenta, Santeo, Nmaidzor, Odibayen, Ogbodzo, Otinshie (Wodoku), East Legon, Adziringanno, Ota Ogbei Ano, Mimpehuasem, Trasacco Valley, Borteyman, Katamansu, entire Spintex Area, Baatsonaa (including Okpoi Gonno Koto Baabi etc), Klagon, Lashibi, Teshie/Nungua Estates, Sangonaa, East Legon Hills, Lakeside, Sakumono Estates, Sakumono Village, Sakumono Wildlife area (Gulf City) Accra Tema Motoway Light Industrial Area.
