The Cyber Security Authority (CSA), under the auspices of the Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation (MOCD) has launched the National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM).
The cyber security Authority (CSA) in collaboration with the ministry of communication and digitalization on October 02, 2023 successfully launched cyber security awareness month at the Ghana College of physicians and surgeons in Accra.
The Authority, which is responsible for securing Ghana’s Digital journey by regulating and promoting development of cyber security activities in the country, is on its quest through ministry of communication and Digitalization to embark on series of activities within the month of October under the theme: “Promoting a Culture of Digital Safety”.
This activity would help to sensitize the Ghanaian citizens and increase their awareness on cyber security threat, which has been on the rise in our current Digital age.
The ministry in collaboration with the user agency invited people from all work of life including the Academia and security experts to get their perspectives to enable successful executing of the program.
In attendance as key notes speakers were Albert Anwi-Boasiako the director general of Ghana cyber security Authority, Patrick Awuah founder and president of Ashesi University, Hon. Albert Kan- Dapaah, minister of national security and Member of Parliament (MP) for Afigya Sekyere West , Mr Moctar Yedaly, who is the African program Director Global forum on Cyber expertise and GC3B special Envoy, also in attendance was and the deputy minister of communication and Digitalization Ms Ama Pomaa Boateng member of Parliament for Juaben who represented the substantive minister.
The director general of Ghana cyber security authority Albert Anwi-Boasiako in his address indicated the new modalities the authority is bringing on board to curtail the cyber security threat.
He however said in this digital age everyone ought to be careful as the fraud guys change their modus operandi each and every day, and that the authority was working assiduously to protect and promote the development of cyber security in Ghana and also use his outfit to thank the minister of communication and digitalization for declaring this month as cyber security awareness month.
Patrick Awuah the founder and president of Ashesi University, bemoaned the series of cases his University encountered despite adopting innovative systems in order to protect the cyber security threat of the university but these fraud guys still have their way into their system. He is therefore sounding a word of caution to each and every one to be on the alert as this fraud guys change their tactics in operating every now and then.
Also, the Hon Albert Kan- Dapaah minister of national security indicated his commitment to promoting and protecting the cyber security of our dear nation. He however said, he was working tirelessly with the state security institutions such as NIB, Ghana Police service, Ghana armed forces, Ghana custom service and all the security services in the country in to protect and promote the development of cyber security in Ghana. The minister also disclosed that, the cyber threat was very multifaceted and needed a strong, innovative and diverse approach to tackle this conquer.
The deputy minister of communication and Digitalization, Ms. Ama Pomaa Boateng, who doubles as the Member of Parliament for Juaben, launched the initiative on behave of the substantive minister and stated her heart felt gratitude for all and sundry in coming to launch this laudable initiative in order to enhance awareness of cyber security threats in the country.
She also used the opportunity to thank all the security agencies in Ghana for their strenuous efforts in partnering with the ministry to protect, promote the cyber security development of our country.
