The Dzaase of Osu has released a statement to rubbish and condemn a certain media publication making the rounds in the traditional and social media purporting to have suspended the Osiahene of Osu and some other elders of the Dzaase indefinitely.
The said report was released under the hand of Nii Saban Atsem VII and some of the members of the Dzaase including Nii Ashong Omaboe(Head of Osu Adjuate) and Oklemekuku(Head of Teinor We)
But, the statement from the Osu Dzaase has indicated clearly that, Nii Saban Atsem has no inherent or assumed power to publish the kind of falsehood and misconceived perception of himself with the capacity to do what he did.
The statement explained that the Kinkawe Dzaase is made up of four (4) houses which he, Nii Saban atsen is one. Out of the remininf three, Nii Teinor left the Dzaase and enstooled his own son as Mantse, as a protest to some forgeries of documents and sale of Osu properties by these same group of people surrounding Nii Saben Atsem.
It said, this left the Dzaase with two (2) membership, namely Nii Nortey Adumuah IV (Osiahene of osu Stool) and Nii Odartey Sto III, (Atofotse of the Osu Stool).
“So clearly the Dzaase is divided into three (3), so how was the meeting called to constitute a quorum and who were the members that met and voted, when he Nii Saban Atsem stands alone?.” It quizzed
The statement further explains thus; “In addition, Nii Saban Atsen must know that no Dzaase member has authority over any of the other Dzaase houses and therefore cannot sign anything in his capacity for the Dzaase but must be on behalf of the entire Dzaase when meetings are held, and a majority decision is reached.
He cannot therefore go to another Dzaase house and dictate to them what they should do, let alone suspend any member.
The power or authority is in the Dzaase as a collective body and not in any individual hands.
Nii Saban Atsen has continued to act with impunity, and he has surrounded himself with persons with questionable characters who are NOT Dzaase members and do not have Osu at heart rather collaborate in selling of Osu properties (Land/Baungalows etc). This is criminal and contempt to traditional justice, and he must desist.
He has resisted calls time and time again to act appropriately and do what is right.
We urge him to be caustious and never again attempt to interfere in the rights and privilege of the other Dzaase houses, less this will result in a fracas between his house and the other houses. He is warned.
If reasonable minds are to turn their attention to the supposed reason for the suspension, one will know it lacks substance or gravitas.
The Osiahene performing his traditionally mandated duties, in no way undermines the Dzaase as a body. In addition the lineage of Nortse Nii Nortey Owuo IV from Owuo We Royal Family(Amantra) is clear and established by Law and history. Can same be said for the person Nii Saban Atsen is touting about?
On which stool did he claimed to have installed a Chief?. Is Nii Saban Atsen not awere that Osu is a patrilineal society ? Why then act contrary to this?
The nature of this letter also requires us to address the constituent membership of the Osu kinkawe Dzaase.
The core Dzaase is made up of four(4) houses represented by the Osiahene from Adjuwate, the Atofotse from Odartey Sro We, a representative from Teinor We and Adukpono.
In the event more members are needed for key external deliberations the head of families of these four(4) houses may be invited to meet but without possesing core voting powers.
Take note.
The head of the two royal houses Owuo We and Dowuona We are not and cannot be members of the Dzaase. They constitute the ruling houses and cannot be part of the king making body that institute them. This system of separation of powers is administrative and cannot be changed.
Also there is an official administrative position agreed to, by members of the Dzaase called ” Dzaase Spokesperson” he must be a member of the Dzaase.
Nii Saban Atsen must stop trying to include all kinds of people just to aid his fraudulent acts and also to make it seem as if he is not standing alone.
The people of Osu want him to act appropriatelly to bring peace to our society.
All members of the Dzaase should be made to understand, the identity of Osiahene determines his authority in the traditional circles of Osu.
Nii Saban Atsen and his cohorts attempts even in to force the police to release the Osu Mantse Palace to him as if he possessed certain powers above the other Dzaase members is mischief and fraudulent. The police should take note, he must be stoped immediately to allow peace or else he will have nimself to be blame.
We continue to pray for God`s favour as we work to bring unity, development and progress to our people.
We refuse to be distracted by persons bent on looting osu for their personal gain.
For your information Nii Ashong Omaboe is the most experienced senior citizen of Osu curently in our Traditional setting and he inducted many of the recent persons into the palace, after the death of Kinka Dowuona.
He possessed certain traditional powers beyond Adjuwate because of the position he held previously.
They make use of him when needed but refused to heed to his advice when it matters most, this is an act of double standard and selfishness.”
