The Osu Stool and the Osu Traditional Council have indicated categorically that Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona VI, is the substantive Osu Mantse and President of the Osu Traditional Council and not Nii Nortey Owuo as it is being purported.

According to a Rejoinder from the Osu Stool and the Osu Traditional Council, Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuna VI is currently the President of Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs.

Their position was against the backdrop of a statement issued by one Okwei Nortey who claims to be the Stool Secretary that, there has been fresh leases of some portions of land issued by Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuna which the stool is not aware.

But, the Osu Traditional Council refuted the said claim, and indicated that “This is absolutely false.”

They averred that the Administration of Stool Lands in collaboration with the Lands Committee has inaugurated a Customary Land Secretariat (CLS) under the Osu Traditional Council to collate every document for onward submission to the Lands Commission and Stool lands Administration, and that the CLS has every record of all transactions of leases.

The Osu Stool and the Osu Traditional Council therefore stressed that anybody who deals with Nii Nortey Owuo and his Cohorts does it at their own risk and called on all to contact the Lands Commission, the Regional House of Chiefs National House of Chiefs and the Ministry of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs for clarifications on issues regarding the leases of their lands.

The statement also indicated that Nii Nortey Owuo and his Cohorts are misleading the public and other institutions, hence the public must tread with caution when dealing with them.
