A victim of Police assault, Robert Bosompem, has commended the Police Intelligence & Professional Standard Bureau (Pips) for its swift response to a petition brought before it for investigations.
According to Mr Bosompem, who is a businessman at Akwatia in the Denkyembour District of Eastern region, the manner in which PIPS investigated the issues has convinced him that the institution is not biased as being speculated by a section of the public..
It will be recalled that Mr Bosompem in 2018 filed a petition against DSP/Mr. Yaw Dankwah Agyekum of Akwatia district police station for threatening him.
On 16th November, 2018, Mr Bosompem wrote a petition on behalf of one Ebenezer Ofori Agyei (Odiasempa Papa Story) a Journalist based in Akwatia for an alleged recording indicating the said Commander was using his position to intimidate and harass innocent citizens of Akwatia and its environs and collecting bags of cement from motor traffic offenders.
The District Police Commander with no hesitation proceeded to arrest the Journalist for making those recordings and remanded him for 8 days in police custody.
Police Intelligence & Professional Standard Bureau of Accra upon the above petition invited the party’s to be investigated.
According to Mr Bosompem, nothing was heard from PIPS since 2018 until last week when a call came that the matter had been referred to the police service enquiry for trial.
