Constituency Secretary of Bosomfreho in the Ashanti Region, Kofi AduAmoateng, is alleged to have used his position as Constituency Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to extort money from his clients in the name of securing them a job at the local government ministry and Ghana Cocoa Board because he is in government.
Mr. Kofi AduAmoateng, who also works at the blood bank unit of KomfoAnokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi, is accused of taken GH¢18, 000.00 bribe from a man in the constituency (Name withheld) by promising him a job at the local government ministry.
After making full payment to Mr. Amoateng, things did not work out as expected and the man in question decided to report the secretary to the District Chief Executive (DCE) and not even effort by the DCE to solve the situation yielded any result.
Mr. Kofi AduAmoateng allegedly issued fake appointment letter from COCOBOD to his client to be sent to Accra for the necessary documentation but failed, which nearly landed his client at the Accra Regional Police headquarters, for holding fake appointment letter when he got to the COCOBOD head office.
Reliable source have it that Mr. Kofi AduAmoateng has refunded GH¢ 10,000 to his client whom he nearly duped.
When Mr. Kofi AduAmoateng was contacted to speak to the issue he stated that he has not collected such an amount from the victim for securing him an employment as has been reported.
He said it was an agenda by some people within the NPP in the constituency to tarnish his image by plotting against him because he is vying for the DCE position in BosomeFreho.
He emphasized that the DCE, for BosomeFreho, Mr. Yaw Danso together with some unprofessional journalists have gang up to meddle him into the alleged bribery scandal which he has not benefited for such an amount.
