Some elected members of the Sekyere East District Assembly have condemned what they described as “fake news” or agitation being raised by the Presiding member, Hon. Emmanuel Adjei Baafi against Hon. Mary Boatemaa Marfo, the District Chief Executive ( DCE).
The Assembly members described the Presiding Member’s actions as ulterior and an agenda to tarnish the image of the DCE for his own parochial interest.
In a release issued by the Assembly men, they stated that the Sekyere East District Assembly did not pay any pesewa to the contractor who worked on the evacuation of the refuse dump as claimed by the Presiding member.
They also averred that the Assembly did not do any commitment, in procurement issues, because they have rectified all errors or mistakes.
“That was why the Assembly set aside a committee to investigate and report back to the Assembly, the committees report is not even ready and you talk about it,” they stated.
On the issue of School Feeding, the Assembly members said they have not cited any external or internal audit report and that no one has mentioned the Sekyere East District Assembly for such allegations.
The Presiding Member, they noted also raised fake news that, the DCE has inflated contract sum, which they described as a false allegation.
They stated that “The Assembly has not received any audit report justifying his allegations. If there is any audit report, the presiding member should bring it and show it to Hon. Members. If not the presiding member is capital incompetent. He doesn’t know his work as Presiding.”
The Assembly members, including Hon. Dennis Asenso, Assembly Member Senchi Electoral Are, Hon. Eric Adjei, Asokore West Electoral Area said the DCE and Hon. Members of the Assembly were confident in the presiding member not knowing “he is naive in the position as PM or can attribute it to his personal interest of becoming the DCE.’
They accused the PM of using power instead of natural justice since he failed to invite the DCE for hearing at Public Relations And Complaint Committee (PRCC ).
“The Presiding Member who is supposed to be the referee to sit on the petition against the Chief Executive for the hearing also signed the petition. Is it not a conflict of interest of impeaching the DCE so that he becomes the next DCE. Since there was no PRCC on the petition, one can conclude that the PM is incompetent.”
They also touched on the PWD Issues, and indicated that Hon. Adjei Baafi Emmanuel threw dust into their eyes.
They mentioned that the DCE in consultation with the management bought the items for the beneficiaries per procurement law and that the presiding Member also lied that the DCE Hon. Mary Boatemaa Marfo does not care for Assembly members, “Hon. DCE really is a lovely mother for all.”
They maintained that the DCE used the common fund to buy Assembly members motorbikes at the time there was directives to that.
The members said the DCE did so because of the interest she has at heart to make the work of members comfortable.
They said the attacks on the DCE is sterling from the fact that some members within the NPP want to be the DCE and therefore want to use the Assembly members to get what they want.
“Hon. Presiding member has his personal agenda, if it was not so, He wouldn’t have signed the petition, He should have stayed neutral since he the PM is the referee. Some members signed the petition because of the release of the new motorbikes brought by Local government.”
They stressed that some of the leaders of NPP in Effiduasi -Asokore constituency want to disgrace the party and the entire constituent, but the few of them are ready to defend the good policies of Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffu Addo, NPP and the Sekyere East district Assembly
