Jean Maurellet Chambers acting for and on behalf of the Chief of Staff of Nungua Stool Mr. Frank Lewi has petitioned the Director of CID to cause investigation into the unlawful encroachment on the Borteyman lands belonging to Nungua Stool.
It said, part of the said lands are not even affected by the compulsory government acquisition but government has not made payment or compensation for use by the Agric Ministry.
However, a portion of the compulsorily acquired lands were released to Nungua Stool for their use whiles leaving a portion for Nungua Farms.
It said, “Unfortunately, certain unknown persons have started encroaching on the vacant and the released portion as well as the lands left for the Agric Ministry”
“Meanwhile, these encroachers are rather spreading information to the effect that portions of the said Borteyman land have been granted or released to them by certain officials of Lands Commission to put up private buildings contrary to the purpose for which it was acquired by law from the onset.
The law firm further submitted that under the circumstance, they are by this petition asking the CID to assist in conducting investigations into the said encroachment taking place at Borteyman and also to put a stop to it.
