Stakeholders in the Ablekuma North Municipal Assembly are piling pressure on the Municipal Chief Executive, Kofi Ofori (Bella) to resign from office over his abysmal performance in the last four years.
Both party executives, Assembly Men and People within the municipality have vowed to vote massively against the NPP in the 2024 general elections if Mr. Ofori is maintained as MCE for the area.
Assembly and Community members in the municipality have persistently expressed their worry over the works of the MCE and continue to demand his resignation or removal from office by President AkufoAddo.
According to the stakeholders, the MCE has failed to initiate the required developmental programs needed to uplift the municipality.
Some assembly members on a condition of anonymity alleged that the MCE purportedly stated at a meeting with some top officials of the NPP at the head office of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) that he had spent over GHC126,000 in the municipality. They claim that statement is false.
The meeting, they said was held to help the party executives assess the performance of the MMDCEs.
Mr. Ofori who is also seeking his second term in office allegedly accused the assembly members of selling streets lights and pocketing the proceeds.
They also called for the need of President AkufoAddo to ensure that Mr. Ofori is not retained as MCE for the municipality.
They stated that the statement made by Mr. Ofori at the meeting goes a long way to tarnish their images and that of the MCE at large.
The MCE, they noted is the representative of the President in the area and is not expected to lie but he did.
They were angry at the MCE for not showing concern about the numerous developmental challenges confronting the area and instead, disgracing himself before officials of his own party.
