A tragic accident involving President Akufo-Addo’s convoy occurred at Bunso Junction in the Eastern Region, resulting in one death and several serious injuries.
The convoy was returning from the funeral of the late Ejisu MP John Kumah when a KIA truck reportedly crossed its path, leading to the collision.
Fortunately, President Akufo-Addo was not in the convoy at the time of the incident. However, two military officers attached to the Presidency sustained injuries and have been airlifted to Accra for further medical treatment.
The individual who lost his life in the accident has been identified as a driver from Jubilee House.
A statement from the presidency confirmed the accident and said, the accident occurred when the convoy was travelling to Accra from Kumasi.
According to the statement, one of the drivers, Kwesi Attah lost his life whilst police officers from the president’s security detail sustained various degrees of injuries.
The injured person’s have been evacuated to the University of Ghana Medical Center for treatment and observation.
