The president of the Small-Scale Miners Association, Michael Kojo Peprah, has apologised to the Office of the president, the Senior Minister, Honourable Yaw Osafo Marfo, and all the National Security agencies for the unsubstantiated allegations he made against them in relation to the issues related to illegal mining and the return and arrest of the Chinese Galamsey Kingpin, Aisha Huan.
Mr Peprah in a radio interview, apologised and retracted his unsavoury comments and further commended the government of president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, the Attorney General, Godfred Odame , the senior Minister , Yaw Osafo Marfo and the Heads of the various national security agencies for enhancing their fight against illegal mining and the arrest of Aisha Huang.
“As a matter of fact, Government is showing enough goodwill from what the Attorney General has come to say. But before, I made some statements and I want to retract and apologise on the issues related to. In my statement I made some claim that there are some Chinese kingpins who are into illegal mining and most of them on their cars you will see this office of the president sticker embossed on their cars. I want to categorically retract and apologise to the office of the president and all the security agencies in the country and also with the Aisha Huang issues I believe the government will do a thorough job’’, Michael Kojo Peprah stated.
It will be recalled that Michael Kojo Peprah, made some damming allegations that ‘galamsey’ kingpin, Aisha Huang returned to the country six months after her deportation.
Mr. Peprah alleged on Top Story, last week that Aisha Huang was spotted by some small-scale miners at Dadieso, a town close to the Ivory Coast border months after her deportation.
He wildly alleged that, the Chinese national had been engaging in ‘galamsey’ activities in the country since then. “After six months, she was sighted around Dadieso. As a matter of fact, in that enclave, there is a mining activity going on. She was having her activities close to the Côte d’Ivoire border and when things become tough, she would go to Côte d’Ivoire and when things come down, she comes back to Ghana. She stayed there for a while then she moved to Mali and she later decided to come back to settle here. That is how come she came on a Togolese visa,” he told Evans Mensah.
Mr. Michael Kojo Peprah alleged that Aisha Huang’s affiliation with some big wigs in government has aided her ‘galamsey’ operations.
“For her to even come back to this country and to engage in the same activity you should understand that there are some big shots behind it because she herself is not super powerful. There are politicians who find her as a money bag and in so doing do everything in their own possible way to protect her,” he stated.
Michael Kojo Peprah has since retracted and apologised to the office of the president, the National Security and the security agencies and the senior minister for his unsubstantiated allegations.
