A petitioned in the possession of the New Crusading Guide, written to the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, is urging the President to withdraw the nomination and appointment of Charles Wiliam Zwennes Esq. to the Court of Appeal as a Justice.
The President has recently received nomination to consider appointing Charles Wiliam Zwennes Esq. in consideration as Court of Appeal Judge to be part of the revered Appellate Court Justices.
However, some Ghanaians seem to have serious reservations to this consideration of appointment by the President.
According to a Petition received from an anonymous source, Charles Wiliam Zwennes Esq. is not fit and proper person to be appointed to such a high office.
According to that Petition, the Petitioner had several engagements with Charles Wiliam Zwennes Esq. and can confidently say that the President is making a huge mistake by appointing such a person with ‘questionable character’ to that high office as the Court of Appeals Court.
Although the Petitioner is not a lawyer by profession, the insider information says he is aware of the fact that appointment to such high office requires among other things, that the person to be so appointed be of high moral character and proven integrity, “but both qualifications, as far as his encounters with Mr. Charles Willian Zwennes, Esq. shows, he does not possess.”
Indeed, all the petitioners’ encounters with Charles Willian Zwennes, are evident to the position he holds against him.
The Petition indicated that, the Petitioner met Mr. Charles Williarn Zwennes, Esq. in June, 2011 when, following the incorporation of a company called Merlin Gaming Ghana Limited.
According to the Petitioner, he owned eighty percent (80%) shares in that company together with two (2) other persons, and as directors of the said company, they appointed Charles Willian Zwennes, Esq. as the company’s solicitor.
“But right after his appointment he started to clandestinely take steps not only to take over the said company through the indirect use of some shareholders in the Company but also to siphon funds from bank accounts held by the Company,” he said.
According to the source, the events started with Mr. Charles William Zwennes, Esq. teaming up with one of the directors/shareholders of the Company with whom he successfully changed the signatories to some of the company’s accounts, unknown to the other members of the company’s board, into his name and with the use of this change of mandate he, together with the other director/shareholder caused an accumulated amount of Ghc893,080.OO to be transferred out of the company’s accounts without the approval of the company’s board with no trace of the money.
He mentioned that he reported the matter to the Financial Forensic Unit of the Ghana Police Department.
Mr. Charles William Zwennes, Esq., after being engaged as a solicitor for the company did everything possible to frustrate him from exercising and enjoying his rights as a director and shareholder of the company which frustration included making various false allegations against him to the police.
These allegations he averred, turned out to be false after furnishing the police with completely false information divorced of facts.
Charles William Zwennes, Esq’s., grossly unethical conduct as a legal practitioner was exposed variously by not just the High Courts but also the Supreme Court as at the High Courts, at least two decisions were made by the Courts, headed by the Former chief justice Anim Yeboah which questioned Charles William Zwennes, Esq’s conduct and ethics as a legal practitioner.
One of the panel was headed by none other by Justice Anim Yeboah and the other by a Supreme Court Judge, Justice Dotse.
At the Supreme Court had affirmed the grossly unethical conduct of Mr. Charles William Zwennes, Esq., as a legal practitioner when he exploited the Court and its authorities with his baseless claims and evidences that do not exist.
Per the petition, the source believes that, Charles William Zwennes, Esq., is in such an unethical disposition as a legal practitioner and ought not be allowed to occupy such a High office as a Court of Appeal Judge.
The Petition is appealing to the President to either rescind his decision of appointing Charles William Zwennes, Esq. as a Court of Appeal judge considering his questionable behaviour as a lawyer.
“…I believe on account of my personal experiences that Charles William Zwennes, Esq. is not fit and proper to be appointed as such and the Republic must avoid such a person who does not meet the constitutional qualifications to be appointed as such.”
“Mr. Charles William Zwennes, Esq. is no exception.”
He believes that the evidences he has attached to his Petition points to the clear lack of integrity on Charles William Zwennes, Esq.’s part which makes him not fit and proper to be appointed to such a high office of the land.
The Petition was copied to the Chief Justice, the Judicial Council, Speaker of Parliament, and the Parliamentary Judicial Vetting Committee.
However, according to the source, there are all available documents from the Police to prove the claims against Charles William Zwennes, Esq., and also all the court rulings against him are public records, saying that there is only one Ghana and all efforts must be made by citizens to ensure that the future peace of the nation is not left in the hands of persons like Charles William Zwennes, Esq.
