It is with profound sadness that Kwahu Kingmakers and Chiefs are compelled to issue this media notice in response to the publications on social media and some selected print media, TV and Radio stations.
Sadness because as the adage goes “we do not wash our dirty linen in public” and also “A royal’s issues are not judged in public”. However, if we keep silent, the misinformation being spread will cast a dark shadow on us. We once again emphasize to the general public that there is no dual Paramountcy in the Kwahu Kingdom. The former Omanhene, Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II, was destooled on 19th October 2024, due to his violation of the sacred oath he swore as Omanhene. We respond to the issues of concern in the public domain as follows; INTERIM INJUNCTION Nana Kwaku Boateng, purported Etena/Bretuo Ebusuapayin of Kubease was granted an INTERIM INJUNCTION by the Judicial Committee of the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs on 19th February 2025, for a limited period of 10 days, on an ex-parte application. This interim injunction was against 6 Chiefs of Abene and Baffour Akoto Osei (presently Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng III) and we are legally advised that this injunction has lapsed. HIGH COURT CASE – DAASEBRE AKUAMOAH AGYAPONG II (EXOMANHENE) VRS AKYEMFOUR ASIEDU AGYEMAN This case is currently going on in the High Court in Koforidua and therefore we can only comment on the ruling that was given on 28th February 2025. The ruling stated among other things, that Akyemfour cannot hold himself out as Acting Omanhene and cannot call meetings of the Traditional Council. In any case, Akyemfour handed over the sword of authority over Kwahuman to the newly enstooled Omanhene, Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng III on 25th January 2025 and is no longer the Acting Omanhene. We also wish to put on record that a meeting held on 13th November 2024 at which all the Chiefs who attended affirmed the destoolment of Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II. That meeting was held on the authority of and under the instructions of the Minister of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs in a letter dated 28th October 2024. Enstoolment, destoolment and chieftaincy issues are not litigated in the High Courts and we are taking steps as legally advised to correct this anomaly. DESTOOLMENT OF DAASEBRE AKUAMOAH AGYAPONG II Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II, was destooled on 19th October 2024, due to his violation of the sacred oath and the disgrace it brought on Kwahuman in general.
The issues were widely reported and accompanied by copies of the letters by the affected party, Mr. Collins Darkwa Aboagye, the directive from the Office of the President and the Bank of Ghana directive all of which culminated in Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong’s dismissal as Board Chairman of the Agricultural Development Bank.
The issues and associated documents were well reported in the traditional media, print, web and social media and we urge all to appraise themselves accordingly. The youth and people of Kwahu mobilized and demanded the destoolment of Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II, citing the disgrace his actions have brought on the Kingdom. The Kingmakers of Kwahu made their enquiries, appraised themselves with the issues and met the complainant.
We then met the destooled Daasebre and he confessed when the facts were presented to him. We were deeply disappointed as he had previously denied all the allegations and we had been going round trumpeting same. We informed him that his behaviour shows lack of integrity, is in violation of the sacred oath of Kwahuman and has brought disgrace to the stool. We asked him to abdicate and after the period we gave him expired, we proceeded and performed the requisite customary rites and destooled him. We are law abiding and we assure all and sundry that we went about this destoolment in the lawful way, both customarily and in accordance with Chieftaincy law. In the appropriate forum, we will present all the facts and vigorously pursue our case.
CONCLUSION
Nananom in Kwahuman says rumours of dual paramountcy in Kwahu are false and baseless. All Kwahu citizens, both at home and abroad, should rally behind Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng III and support his vision for development and prosperity for the Kwahu Kingdom. Kwahu remains committed to peace, unity, and progress and Kwahu is calm and peaceful. All are welcome to the GRAND OUTDOORING of our new Omanhene, Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng III on 8th March 2025. Long Live Daasebre!!! Long Live Kwahuman!!! Signed Nana Asiedu Kwabeng IV Akyeamehene of Kwahu Traditional Area.
