Deputy Minister for Works and Housing and Education Manifesto Chair for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Prince Hamid Armah, observed that digitalizing rent control department shows a significant milestone in government’s effort to modernize public service delivery in Ghana.
Addressing the public at the launch of the digitaliziation of rent control department yesterday in Accra Dr. Prince Hamid Armah, disclosed that “For far too long, Ghanaians have had to endure the inconveniences of traveling long distances, waiting in queues, and dealing with tedious bureaucratic processes to access the most basic services, therefore embracing this digitalization platform will reduce persons waiting in queues and enhance transparency and accountability.”
He added that “The time saved by citizens through digital services will be substantial. Instead of waiting in queues, Ghanaians can now use their time for productive work, family, and community-building activities. “
“We are making history today, not just by embracing digital tools but by fundamentally reshaping how Ghanaians experience public services,” he said.
Highlighting the benefits of the digital transformation, Dr. Prince Armah, who is also a Member Of Parliament for Kwesimintsim Constituency disclosed that the new system would allow landlords and tenants to interact with the department online, eliminating the need for in-person visits.
“Whether you need to register a property, file a complaint, or resolve a dispute, you will now be able to do so from the comfort of your home or office. Also, this has automated processes that will support everything, from registering properties to processing complaints, ensuring that services are delivered efficiently, transparently, and in real time,” the deputy minister explained.
Furthermore, he said, it would ensure digital tenancy agreements by allowing landlords and tenants to handle paperwork electronically, saving time and resources and provide Unique digital property addresses which would be assigned to all rented properties, providing a new level of clarity and organization to the rental market.
“The digital platform will also assist in the digital filing system, ensuring that all complaints, tenancy agreements, and inquiries are securely stored and easily accessible for future reference.
Also it will serve as an Online advertising of rental properties will make it easier for landlords to find tenants and for tenants to find accommodation, streamlining the entire rental process and also Digital searches for rental properties will become quicker, more comprehensive, and more user-friendly, improving the experience for everyone involved.
“is with great pride that I now unveil the one-stop portal for all rent-related transactions rentcontrol.mwh.gov.gh,” he disclosed.
Chief Rent Manager at the Rent Control Department, Ampofo Twum, applauded government for such an initiative and called on all citizens to join make this initiative a useful one.
“In addition, the introduction of this digitalisation process in the rent control system will enhance transparency and accountability within the system, and also, help distribute information scheduled for clients and also make clients file their documents online and access case information and update on their cases in real time. Also, this will also reduce the huge number of clients who visit the office stranded. Our goal is to create a more responsive and effective rent control department that serves the needs of all,” Mr Ampofo noted.
