The Trades and Industry Minister paid a working visit to Sentuo Oil Refinery Limited located in the Tema Heavy Industrial Area.
The visit was to ascertain the status of work in the development of a 5 million tons/year refining project as part of efforts to empower the industrial sector.
The project is part of the Ministry’s Industrial Transformation Agenda in developing new Strategic Anchor Industries. It is aimed at diversifying the Ghanaian economy beyond Cocoa and Gold as the world takes huge transition into the industrial arena.
The operationalisation of this and many such companies are part of efforts by the government to dampen the demand for foreign exchange for imports and grow our gross domestic product.
As one of the flagship programmes by the current government, the industrial sector saw some appreciable progress in recent years. The current 1D1F is the lead programme to revive ailing industries while adding new ones in selected Districts across the country.
Hon Alan Kyerematen, in a social media post on Friday, October 15, confirmed how he was impressed with the progress of the project.
“Earlier this week, I visited the Sentuo Oil Refinery Limited located in the Tema Heavy Industrial Area to ascertain the status of work in the development of a 5 million tons/year refining project to better meet the needs of the local market.
The project falls part of my Ministry’s Industrial Transformation Agenda in developing new Strategic Anchor Industries aimed at diversifying the Ghanaian economy beyond Cocoa and Gold.
The operationalization of this and many such companies are part of efforts by the government to dampen the demand for foreign exchange for imports and grow our gross domestic product”, a post from the Trade and Industry Minister reads.
The Trade and Industry was accompanied by one of his deputies, Michael Okyere Baafi.
