A legal dispute has erupted in Keta, Volta Region, where two men — identified as Anthony Alan Amadeo and Michael Attipoe, Chief Executive Officer of Lagoon Beach Hotel Keta — have been accused of unlawfully acquiring and demolishing a property belonging to the late parents of the plaintiff,(Richard Pomeyie)
who is the son of the late Elsie Worlali Ami Dzidzienyo and B.K.K. Pormeyie, alleges that the defendants, without any court order or judgment, pulled down the family house on July 1, 2025, and have since moved to register the property and procure a building permit from the Keta Municipal Assembly.The plaintiff has cause his lawyers to file writ of summons and statement of claim together with an application for interlocutory injunction before the
High Court in Sogakope to restrain the defendants, assigns, and workmen from developing the subject matter land.
Plaintiff, through his lawyer Isaac Aidoo ESQ of Rohi Legal Consult, is seeking an order to restrain the defendants, Amadeo Anthony Allan and Michael Attipoe, from further construction or development on the disputed property.
According to the application for interlocutory injunction together with its supporting affidavit, the plaintiff’s parents have occupied and used the land for over 30 years. However, on July 1, 2025, the defendants allegedly entered the property, demolished existing structures, and began erecting new buildings.
The plaintiff argues that these actions amount to trespass and could cause irreparable damage if not immediately halted.
The affidavit further explains that tidal waves had destroyed the original property documents, but the plaintiff has photographic evidence of his family’s long-standing residence on the land. It also cites the LIMITATION ACT,1972 N.R.C.D.54 stressing that the extended period of occupation grants the plaintiff’s family rights over the land.
The plaintiff contends that if the defendants are not restrained, they will alter the status quo in a way that damages cannot be compensated. The motion for interlocutory injunction together with its supporting affidavit and exhibits, has been scheduled to be heard on September 23, 2025, at the High Court in Sogakorpe.
