The newly sworn-in Municipal Chief Executives (MCE’s) of the Tema West Municipal Assembly, Naa Adukwei Addo and Nungua Municipal Chief Executive, Joshua Nii Bortey have paid a courtesy call on the traditional rulers of Nungua, in the Greater Accra Region.
The two MCEs said the courtesy call was to introduce themselves to the traditional leadership in the municipality.
The outgoing Police Commander of the Kpeshie Divisional headquarters, ACP Kwame Tsibi accompanied them to announce to the chiefs that they were there to introduce the MCEs to them.
“I came here to thank them for their presence during my confirmation and the swearing in.
“We all know that they’re the custodians of this land and because of that we need to come and pay homage and seek for their blessing, support so we will be able to deliver on their mandate,” Naa Adukwei told the media.
The 2 MCE’s, Hon Joshua Nii Bortey and Naa Adukwei Addo were approved as the President’s nominees to head the fast-developing municipalities as the President’s nominees recently.
They promised the Nungua Traditional rulers that they’re on a mission to transform the two Municipalities in their term.
Hon Naa Adukwei Addo listed the improvement in education, the sanitation, Health and building of vocational institute for her municipality as her top priorities.
She said “I want to set up a vocational training institute. As I mentioned earlier on, we know poverty is national security right now confronting the country.
“We have armed robbery, prostitution and I believe if you’re able to gather these young people who are unemployed, give them some form of training, some of employment at the end, these things will be curbed in the society”
Hon Joshua Nii Bortey pledged that he will do everything within his means to ensure that Nungua Municipal gets some roads done
He also promised to get portholes filled from Nautica College to Kpo keke area.
Speaking to at event, King Odaifio Welentsi III and his traditional rulers welcomed the 2 MCE’s plan for the area and added that “If they succeed, Tema West and Nungua have succeed.”
King Odaifio Welentsi III told the MCE’s that they have their supports and blessings to further develop the municipality to an appreciable level.
