The Chiefs and People of Boso in the Asuogyaman District of the Eastern Region have condemned what they described as blatant police interference in their chieftaincy issues.
They have expressed fear that the persistence interference by officials of the Ghana police service could escalate the volatile situation if not addressed.
According to the Chiefs, armed police officers in riot vans, acting under directives of high profile Police Commanders from the Accra usually storm the town and cause fear and panic.
For them the reckless use of state security forces in the town to frighten people is a direct threat to the peace and stability of Boso. Concerned about the growing unrest, the chiefs and residents are calling on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and relevant authorities to intervene immediately and prevent future occurrences.
The youth of Boso, angered by the situation, have warned that they are ready to confront the security forces if such actions continue. The chiefs and the people have, therefore, urged the government to act swiftly to maintain peace in the community
